There are several anal disorders. In the Netherlands, millions of people have problems with their anus, which manifests itself in the form of pain and itching, bleeding or incontinence. This often concerns hemorrhoids, skin flaps at the anus (marisken/skintags), anal fistulas, fissures (cracks), prolapses (prolapse), weakening of the sphincter muscle or other problems with the pelvic floor (incontinence). The specialized proctologist at U-Clinic has various treatments for all these anal disorders. You can read more about it on the following pages:
Intake and diagnosis
During the first consultation, which is otherwise reimbursed by your insurance, our proctologist (specialist in anal disorders) will gladly take all the time for you. He will first ask you a few questions about your complaints and any daily habits that may be relevant. He will then ask you to take a seat in the special, comfortable examination chair in order to examine you properly. If necessary, he uses a rectoscope, with which he can look into your anus and rectum. On the basis of his findings, he will draw up a treatment plan together with you. He will explain to you in detail what is going to happen on the basis of drawings and models. This way you always know exactly where you stand.
In many cases, treatment with drugs (ointment, pills) is sufficient. In the case of complaints about the pelvic floor, we first try to tackle the problems with physiotherapy. If an operation is really necessary, we will schedule it. Our proctologists are experienced surgeons who can perform simple interventions on site – on an outpatient basis. If that is not possible, we refer you to the hospital. In any case, our proctologist will remain your attending physician. So you are always in safe hands.
